Trust Accounting in Lake Macquarie
GR & Co Accounting & Advisory Pty Ltd provides Trust Accounting in Lake Macquarie for discretionary and unit trusts, including those operating a business and those holding investments or property. We are based in Morisset and act for trusts across Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley. Trusts are flexible, which is why they are so widely used for holding investments and property as well as running a business, and we make sure income is distributed in a way that is both compliant and tax effective. Our work is anchored in the terms of your specific trust deed rather than a standard template.

Trust Accounts and Distributions
We prepare the trust's financial statements and annual tax return, calculate distributable income under the deed, and prepare the trustee resolution recording how income has been distributed for the year. Each beneficiary receives the figures they need for their own return, including any franking credits or capital gains flowing through to them. We track beneficiary entitlements that have been allocated but not yet paid, because unpaid present entitlements can create their own tax consequences if they are left unresolved. Where the trust holds property or investments, we maintain the asset records needed to calculate a capital gain correctly when something is eventually sold.
Resolutions Before Financial Year End
Every trust has a key deadline at the end of each financial year, and we make sure it's never missed. We work through the numbers with you ahead of time, then prepare and manage all the paperwork needed to keep the trust's distributions compliant and ready for signing well before the deadline.

Common Trust Structures We Work With
Trusts vary considerably depending on why they were established, and much of our work is with investment and holding trusts — trusts set up to hold property, shares or other investments and distribute that income or profit to beneficiaries in a tax-effective way. We manage the accounting and distributions for these trusts year on year, keeping the numbers aligned with what the trust actually holds. We also work with discretionary (family) trusts, which give the trustee flexibility to decide each year how income is distributed among a defined group of beneficiaries, and unit trusts, which allocate income according to fixed unit holdings — suiting unrelated parties investing together. Every trust is governed by its own deed, so we read the specific terms rather than assuming standard ones apply.
